Background
Dynamic Business Services are a leading provider of tailored on-demand learning solutions.
Their clients include ASDA, HBOS, Ladbrokes, the NHS and many other well-known organisations.
Our role
Historically, Dynamic have delivered their learning systems through standard management systems (such as Moodle) or through ad-hoc internally developed systems. The standard systems were found to be hard to work with and constraining, whereas the ad-hoc systems were hard to maintain and unreliable. Particular issues in both cases were flexibility of control and organisation of courses and of reporting
Our task was to establish the requirement, propose an architecture and build a 'Learning Management System' to support Dynamic's Learning Content.
We started by by designing and chairing a review and analysis by Dynamic of their needs. This led to a functional scoping document, following which we developed the system. In order to ensure that the Dynamic technologists were able to fully support the system, we proposed that they implement the web front end to the system with our support.
We continue to support the Dynamic team and enhance the system as new applications become apparent.
The Product
The Dynamic Learning Management system allows implementations of training courses in a range of formats to be delivered online quickly and effectively.
The system provides a range of means for uploading, managing, finding, allocating and reporting on courses.
Flexible but simple reporting, course assignment and sequencing of lessons are the key features of the system.
Technology
The system has been built with C#, SQL Server and ASP.Net. OpenXML has been used to deliver Excel reports from the server.
